In freezing temperatures, a Texas mother was discovered outside with her two young children and is now facing charges.
On Tuesday at approximately 6:40 a.m., the Harris County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a woman and her children outside on 12062 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.
During the historic snowfall in the area, the three were found lying on a sidewalk.
The sheriff's office stated that when deputies arrived, they discovered the woman and her two young children who were suffering from cold-related injuries. Immediately, the babies received medical attention.
Early Tuesday morning in Houston, temperatures were reported at 28 degrees and snow had accumulated on the ground. Local news outlets also reported that a woman was found napping on the ground with an open alcoholic beverage nearby.
On Monday night, two to four inches of snowfall were reported in much of the Houston area, with some places experiencing as much as five inches.
Dangerous and icy road conditions are expected due to temperatures remaining below freezing.
