Video shows van barely escaping collision with incoming train.
An accident occurred in South Boston, Virginia, but the driver managed to avoid any injuries.
In Virginia, a van escaped a collision with an oncoming train in a "miracle" incident.
A video recorded by Bob Brown in South Boston depicts a van with the Pepsi logo speeding over the tracks right before a train crosses the path.
According to The Gazette-Virginian newspaper, it was a miracle that Tommy Cobbs, a 53-year-old driver from Danville, escaped injury.
The Virginia State Police have charged Cobbs with disregarding signs and markings, according to the newspaper.
A video recorded on July 13 starts with the van stopping suddenly before a lowered railroad gate.
The van stops abruptly before the tracks as a train approaches, its horns blaring in the distance.
The gate is hit twice by the driver before the vehicle starts to move forward.
As the train approaches, a sudden burst of speed enables the van to safely cross the tracks.
The train eventually comes to a stop shortly following the incident.
According to The Gazette-Virginian, the crossing gate sustained approximately $2,000 in damage due to the incident.
"Despite the speed of the train and the van, I believed we would witness metal debris or something even more severe, but he managed to make it," Brown stated.
