Video shows a teen driving a stolen car and ramming vehicles before being arrested on a rooftop by NYPD officers.
In New York City, a 19-year-old named Keyah Richardson caused chaos before being apprehended on a rooftop.
A video has been released showing a teen suspect driving a stolen car into several vehicles and hitting a police officer before fleeing on foot and being apprehended on a rooftop.
On Sunday at 5 p.m. in Queens, New York City, a 19-year-old man named Keyah Richardson was driving a stolen white sedan, and the NYPD's bodycam footage captured the incident.
Richardson speeds away from the police officer, clipping another car and rolling over a traffic cone before crashing into the metal shutters of a building, narrowly missing a mother and her child.
The officer shouts, "Police!" before drawing his gun and instructing, "Don't move, don't move."
The video posted to X by NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry shows Richardson, who was wearing a hood, putting down his boot and attempting to speed away against traffic on a one-way street.
As Daughtry wrote in the post's caption, the stolen sedan collided with another officer while he was attempting to escape, resulting in him being pinned between his car and a parked vehicle.
Another police officer's bodycam shows Richardson speeding away down the narrow street and smashing into several vehicles along the way.
The teen abandons the car a few blocks away and attempts to elude law enforcement by escaping through a subway platform.
Richardson was captured by police after he tried to kill an NYPD officer and was pursued by them. He climbed onto a roof and jumped onto another before being trapped and apprehended.
Video footage from above depicts several police officers apprehending Richardson on the roof, with two more officers assisting from a tower ladder.
With the help of our NYPD Aviation Units and ESU, we were able to put an end to the suspect's criminal spree and bring him to justice. As a result, another stolen car was recovered, a dangerous criminal was removed from the streets, and most importantly, our officers could return home to their loved ones.
The officer who was struck by a sedan was treated at a nearby hospital for non-critical injuries, as stated by Daughtry.
A man from Sutter Avenue in Brooklyn was charged with multiple offenses, including attempted aggravated murder, reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, possession of burglar tools, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The New York Post reported that Richardson had no prior arrests, but it is unclear what weapon he had on him.
