Video: Rescue mission reunites Tennessee dog with family after being found in ravine.
Apollo, the dog rescued by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was recognized on social media after a video of his rescue was posted.
On Wednesday, a dog who had gone missing in Tennessee was discovered injured in a ravine and will soon be reunited with his family.
A nearby creek was the source of the sound heard by the Tennessee Department of Transportation crew while they were removing a tree from the 2400 block of State Route 48 in Dickson, according to the agency's Facebook post.
An injured dog was discovered by workers in a ravine, prompting them to contact a nearby Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper for assistance.
A group comprising of TDOT crew members, troopers, Dickson Electric utility workers, and a private citizen collaborated to save the puppy.
They rescued him from the ravine and transported him to the Humane Society of Dickson County (HSDC) for treatment of his injuries.
According to HSDC, a TDOT worker donated a pallet of dog food to the shelter a couple of hours later.
"TDOT stated on Facebook that the dog is receiving treatment and they are optimistic for a quick recovery. They expressed gratitude to the employees who responded to the request for assistance."
On Wednesday, the Tennessee Highway Patrol shared a bodycam video of a dog's rescue on Facebook and named him "Trooper." They also requested assistance in finding his family.
Apollo, the dog whose name was recognized through social media, has been in contact with DCHS, the shelter stated Wednesday night.
The humane society stated in a post celebrating Apollo's rescue, "Together, we can create a positive impact on the lives of the vulnerable."
