Video footage shows a woman being forcibly removed from a train track and thrown into traffic on a California freeway.
Juan Flores is being charged with attempted murder.
A video has emerged depicting a woman's close call with death when a man pulled her off a Los Angeles Metro train and tossed her into the traffic.
On August 7th, at approximately 5:30 a.m., an incident occurred at the Allen Metro station on the Metro A Line in Pasadena.
On August 12th, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón declared that Juan Flores had been accused of attempting to kill a woman.
Flores was accused by Gascón of assaulting the victim and pushing them onto the train tracks and then onto the carpool lane of the 210 Freeway.
After being treated for deep cuts to her face and staples in her head, she was later readmitted to the hospital due to an infection and high fever, as reported by Fox 11.
"Gascón previously stated in a press release that our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she begins her journey toward recovery following this horrific attack. No one should have to endure such brutality, and everyone deserves to go about their day without fear for their safety. We will not tolerate violence on our transit system and will continue holding those responsible fully accountable for their actions."
The Metro Board of Directors, led by Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident involving the attack on a woman at a Metro station. The investigation includes an audit of where Metro's contracted law enforcement and transit security were present during the incident.
Hahn stated that our trains, buses, and stations must be safe for our riders, and we must continue to implement safety reforms to achieve that goal.
She mentioned that the board was developing a plan to enhance security during early morning rush hour.
Flores remains in custody without bail, and his arraignment has been rescheduled for Aug. 27.
If found guilty, Flores could receive a sentence of life imprisonment.
