Video footage of an 8-year-old girl driving a family SUV on a Target run
The child was discovered safe inside the store following her confession of striking a mailbox while en route.
An 8-year-old girl was seen driving her mother's vehicle in a dashcam video while on her way to shop at an Ohio Target store.
On the weekend, Bedford police declared that the missing child had been found safe and shopping after driving her mother's car for 30 minutes on busy roads to a popular retail store.
On Sunday morning, the ordeal began with a call about a missing child. But as police investigated, reports emerged about a small child driving east on Rockside Road.
A man in a newly released dashcam video calls the police to report a vehicle behind him "swerving everywhere."
As the dashcam captures the "swerving driver," the man can be heard exclaiming to dispatchers, "It looks like a kid!"
According to FOX 8, the police found the vehicle at a Target with the girl inside, and she admitted to hitting a mailbox while driving 10 miles from her home to the store.
The young girl is now home safe after officers retrieved her and the car, according to them.
"The Bedford police joked on Facebook that they had found a woman who was more eager to shop at Target than their wife, with an 8-year-old driving mommy's car to Target in Bainbridge this morning."
The police stated that they were unsure about what the woman purchased and whether she was able to utilize her Target app to obtain a 5% discount. Despite this, they allowed her to complete her Frappuccino. They emphasized that they were not cruel.
The girl is not old enough to be charged with a crime, and the police are relieved that no one was harmed.
