Video footage captured a truck losing control and colliding with emergency vehicles on the side of an icy highway.
Several crashes occurred on that day due to the winter storm, according to the sheriff's department.
This week in Michigan, two first responder vehicles were hit by an out-of-control truck, as shown in shocking dash camera footage.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, while assisting another accident on the snow-covered highway, a truck crashed into a fire truck on the side of I-94 before flipping on its side and colliding with a sheriff's patrol vehicle parked in front of the fire truck.
A dashcam video from a vehicle parked behind the fire truck captured the entire horrifying incident.
In the video, a first responder is seen assisting an overturned vehicle on the side of the highway before the crash.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said no first responders were injured.
As a precaution, the truck driver was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
Several first responders can be seen fleeing from the first truck as it approaches them after being struck.
"The sheriff's office advised against travel during severe winter weather and urged caution if travel is necessary. They emphasized the importance of safety for both the traveler and first responders."
Multiple vehicle accidents and slide-offs occurred on highways in Kalamazoo County due to hazardous driving conditions caused by Thursday's storm.
