According to Davies, officers are investigating whether the driver and suspect were acquainted and if there was a possible motive for the shooting.

"Davies stated that the relationship between these two gentlemen is unknown, and the incident appeared to be targeted, not a robbery."

Authorities found the truck of the suspected shooter near Santiago Canyon Road and the Toll Road a few hours later, at around 6 p.m. The suspect barricaded himself inside his vehicle, but was eventually forced out of it after a chemical agent and a police dog were deployed, Davies said.

"Our SWAT team lured or forced him out of the vehicle, but he is alive," Davies stated.
