Unusual sighting of drones in Connecticut sky reported.
Numerous drones observed in New Jersey recently have not been traced back to their source by the Pentagon.
On Thursday night, several drones were reportedly seen in the skies above a Connecticut suburb, further fueling confusion and raising concerns about national security and public safety.
In Fairfield, 55 miles northeast of New York City, a social media user posted videos of suspected drones.
Recent sightings of drones flying over New Jersey and near Staten Island, New York, have sparked concern due to the ambiguity surrounding their source.
At least five drones were seen flying over the Fairfield, Connecticut, train station by one X user who captured the footage.
"They passed by each other without interacting," she said off-camera. "They're at different skill levels. My husband owns a drone that can fly farther and quieter than theirs."
At one point, she stated that the aircraft might be a "recreational drone."
A social media user reported seeing drones flying between 5:30-6:00 near LaGuardia Airport in New York City, stating that they were not planes. Other footage posted online showed multiple drones hovering near the airport, according to social media posts.
Planet Chronicle Digital has reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Despite the emergence of over 30 drones in the New Jersey sky over three weeks ago, the Pentagon has not provided any information regarding their origin. However, the Pentagon has previously stated that the drones were not launched from an Iranian "mothership" in the U.S. East Coast.
According to Sabrina Singh, a Pentagon spokeswoman, there is no Iranian ship near the US coastline and no "mothership" is launching drones towards the US, as reported by Jennifer Griffin of Planet Chronicle.
John Kirby, the White House national security communications adviser, stated that many of the reported drone sightings in New Jersey over the past few weeks are actually legal manned aircraft.
Kirby stated at the daily White House press briefing that there is no evidence to suggest that the reported drone sightings pose a threat to national security, public safety, or have a foreign connection.
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security will continue to investigate the reported drone sightings to determine if they are accurate and if the objects are actually drones or manned aircraft.
Numerous cases of mistaken identity have been reported in history, where reported drones were actually manned aircraft or facilities. Despite supporting local law enforcement in New Jersey with various detection methods, we have not verified any of the reported visual sightings through electronic detection.
Despite initial reports suggesting otherwise, upon review of available imagery, it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft, operating lawfully. There are no confirmed drone sightings in any restricted airspace.
