On Nov. 4, 2024, News 12 Westchester reported that a dental hygienist named Sackett was discovered in her longtime home, which belonged to nearby Iona University, citing interviews with her family.
Sackett and her boyfriend, who worked at the university, shared the New Rochelle home.
Chris Sackett, Sackett's brother, revealed that they were facing issues and she desired to distance herself from him, according to the outlet.
From 2017 to 2023, Planet Chronicle Digital reviewed documents that revealed the tumultuous relationship between the couple. Prior to her discovery on Nov. 4, 2024, authorities visited the shared residence nine times for welfare checks, disputes, and alleged domestic violence incidents.
On July 12, 2018, Sackett claimed that her boyfriend assaulted her, causing her to call the police for chest pains and shortness of breath.
She confessed to police in a "very low voice" that she called because she needed to "detox" from him. Police did not charge Sackett, stating that he was "completely uncooperative."
In other instances, police were called for domestic disputes.
Planet Chronicle Digital reviewed recent 911 call logs and found that two welfare checks were conducted on Sept. 25 and Sept. 26.
The university allegedly discovered Sackett's decomposing body while attempting to remove her from her shared home, which was owned by the university.
The boyfriend, who was not named by police, was not in the state where she died, according to a local news source.
The Westchester medical examiner is conducting a toxicology report to identify the cause of death of the woman who died of natural causes, according to police.
