Earlier this week, a lone gunman shot and killed UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson in broad daylight outside of the Hilton in Midtown Manhattan.

All who worked with Thompson regarded him as a highly respected colleague and friend.

The healthcare company issued a second statement on Thursday expressing gratitude for the support of Americans nationwide following the incident.

Despite our broken hearts, we have been moved by the immense show of kindness and support that has emerged in the aftermath of this heinous crime.

Numerous individuals, including patients, consumers, healthcare professionals, associations, government officials, and other compassionate people, have made an effort to connect. We express gratitude, despite our sorrow.

Since early Wednesday morning, the NYPD has been on the hunt for the murderer.

The suspect believed to have committed the brutal slaying is believed to have used a fake New Jersey identification card to check into a New York City hostel before the execution-style killing, according to police sources.

Sources say the suspect used the fake ID and paid in cash.

The incident will not impact the company's operations, and their top priority is supporting the family during this difficult time.

"At UnitedHealth Group, our top priority is to provide health care support to those who rely on us, while also ensuring the safety of our employees and working with law enforcement to bring justice to Brian's family."

The company requested that the public grant the families privacy to mourn.

The company stated that it requested everyone to respect the family's privacy while they grieve the loss of their spouse, father, sibling, and friend.
