On Sunday, former President Trump informed his supporters that he was "safe and well" following a second attempted assassination on his life, which took place in West Palm Beach, Florida.
On Sunday afternoon, at the fifth hole of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, the U.S. Secret Service fired on a man, Ryan Wesley Routh, who was believed to be armed with a rifle.
Trump was allegedly targeted by Routh, who reportedly pushed his rifle's muzzle through a chain-linked fence approximately 300 to 500 yards away from him.
Routh fled the scene and was quickly apprehended.
"Gunshots were heard near me, but before speculation runs rampant, I want you to know: I am safe and okay. I won't let anything slow me down. I will never surrender. Thank you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again."
Authorities and the Secret Service are collaborating to investigate the situation, and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has been informed.
The second assassination attempt on Trump occurred on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, while the first took place on the same day in the same location.
During a campaign rally, a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks fired eight rounds from a building about 150 yards away from the stage, grazing Trump's ear with one bullet.
