The Trump family meets with the Rachel Morin family at the border, where a Maryland mom of five was murdered by an illegal immigrant suspect.
One year after Rachel Morin's murder by an illegal immigrant suspect, Trump met with her family.
On Friday, the former President met with the family of Rachel Morin, the Maryland mother of five who was brutally attacked and murdered, allegedly by an illegal immigrant suspect from El Salvador in August 2023.
During his campaign stop in Cochise County, Arizona, Trump met with the Morin family at the southern border.
"Patty Morin came here today and accepted the invitation because she wants their words to be heard and for them to be taken to heart. They are not here for a political stand, but because they are losing their loved ones to criminals. They believe that President Trump should be reelected as president in order to take care of their country and people."
Patty divulged the tale of discovering her daughter's murder.
"We should be taking care of our country, our people, and the only way I think that's going to happen is if President Trump is reelected as president."
Rachel, who was 37 years old and owned a small business, worked tirelessly to support her family. She had five children and often ran on the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel-Air, Maryland, which was her daily routine. Unfortunately, on the evening she was killed, Rachel was on this trail.
Patty stated that the trail is small, safe, public, and open, with many moms using baby carriages while walking on it.
At the time of Rachel's death, she was in Kentucky visiting family due to the passing of her grandchild. She received a call from a Maryland detective informing her that they had found Rachel's body.
Patty recalled how they discovered her daughter's body, which had been brutally beaten, raped, and stuffed into a drain pipe, only recently coming to light.
"Because of the open border, we've had not just my daughter, but two in the same county, where illegal immigrants have come in and caused rape and murder of our citizens," she said.
In June of this year, Jeffery Gahler, the Harford County Sheriff, declared the apprehension of Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, a 23-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador, for the murder of Morin.
In Oklahoma, Tusla, Martinez-Hernandez was arrested and is accused of first-degree murder, rape, and kidnapping in relation to Morin's death.
The suspect has been labeled a potential serial killer by authorities due to his alleged involvement in multiple crimes against women in Central America and the United States, and prosecutors are seeking a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
DNA found at the scene of Morin's murder was also linked to DNA found in a Los Angeles residence following a home invasion in March of the previous year.
"In March of 2023 in Los Angeles, a suspect attacked a 9-year-old girl and her mother during a home invasion, emboldened by his anonymity, according to Gahler at the time of his arrest. This was our first DNA match linking Rachel's case to the one in Los Angeles."
Although DNA samples from both crime scenes matched, authorities couldn't identify the suspects because the samples were not previously logged in the CODIS system, which stores DNA samples of offenders arrested in the US.
"Gahler stated in June that American citizens are not safe due to their failed immigration policies, which is 1800 miles away from the southern border."
