The number of drones in New Jersey has increased, and a gubernatorial candidate has proposed a theory about an unsolved mystery.
Recent reports indicate that unusual drone sightings in New Jersey and New York have been on the rise weeks after the initial reports.
Over a dozen New Jersey counties have reported sightings of mysterious drones in the sky, leaving both residents and the FBI puzzled about their origin.
In mid-November, drones were reportedly first sighted over Morris County, New Jersey, which is located two miles north of the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, according to Patch. Since then, drones have been spotted frequently throughout the Garden State, including in central counties such as Monmouth, Ocean, and Hunterdon, as well as in Camden and Burlington Counties in the south of the state.
Bill Spadea, a New Jersey radio host and gubernatorial candidate, believes the unusual drone sightings are a military test and promises his constituents more transparency when he is in office.
"Spadea stated on "Fox & Friends Weekend" Sunday morning that he wishes for the government to be more transparent and forthcoming about their actions. He believes that when he becomes governor, there will be no more secrecy coming from the state house, as it is clear that someone knows what is happening."
A friend who called Spadea's talk radio show in New Jersey a few weeks ago first informed him about the sightings.
The station has been receiving calls from listeners regarding increased sightings of drones. Spadea has been focusing on the drone issue for the past week and a half on his entire show.
He stated that callers across the state are reporting that some of these drones are as large as cars.
Officials have stated that they are taking the mystery drone sightings seriously, and Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey posted on Twitter on Thursday that there is no known threat to the public at this time.
The FBI is currently investigating the matter, but Planet Chronicle Digital has not yet received a response from them.
In some areas, they have been seen nightly and occasionally travel in groups, according to Patch.
More recently, drone sightings were also reported on Staten Island.
"Borough President Vito Fossella wrote to the FBI and FAA about large, military-style drones flying over parts of New Jersey and Staten Island in recent weeks."
Planet Chronicle' Kyle Schmidbauer contributed to this report.
