Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey believes the federal government has the right to shoot down drones flying over his state and would not object to a more active role in the matter.

During an interview with WNYC, Murphy stated that the large drones' source remains unknown, as both the public and lawmakers are perplexed. Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., disclosed to Planet Chronicle that a Coast Guard commander revealed that one of their 47-foot vessels was closely trailed by over a dozen of these drones.

I would like to see the feds play a more robust role in getting a closer look at the drone, and I wouldn't be opposed to that. Let me put it that way.

"We understand your frustration, but we are committed to staying the course and making this our top priority. Although we don't currently see any evidence of a risk to public safety, we will immediately communicate any changes based on new information, including input from the feds," Murphy stated.

The Democrat stated that his state government is exploring every possible explanation for the drones.

"I heavily depend on government experts for this job, and there's no evidence of anything being armed. However, there are theories, and we keep an open mind. Even if someone makes a wild claim with no evidence, we're still investigating everything."

According to Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., on Wednesday, "very credible" and "trustworthy" sources claim that the enigmatic drones soaring above New Jersey are emanating from an Iranian "mothership" anchored off the U.S. East Coast.

Murphy rejected the claim as a "wild assertion" and emphasized the need to avoid fearmongering from certain congressional members.

"Some believe we know more than we're saying, but we can't confirm it. I wish I could say yes, but we don't. I trust the feds if this is a U.S. government activity, and I'll be the most surprised person in the state," he concluded.
