The FBI's raid on Mar-a-Lago serves as a "warning to all Americans," according to Melania Trump.
On Saturday, the former first lady posted a video on X that highlighted the controversial FBI raid on her Florida residence in August 2022.
Melania Trump posted a video on her X account on Saturday morning criticizing the FBI's raid on her Mar-a-Lago home in 2022 and warned all Americans.
"The former first lady stated in a video that she never imagined her privacy would be invaded by the government in America. She recalled how the FBI raided her home in Florida and searched through her personal belongings."
Trump continued, "This isn't just my tale; it's a cautionary message to all Americans that our liberties and privileges must be upheld."
The former President Trump, who is also her husband, plans to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages over the 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, with lawyers arguing that it was done with the "clear intent to engage in political persecution."
Trump and his legal team plan to file a lawsuit against the Justice Department for its actions during the FBI's search of Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022, as part of the ongoing investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified information.
Daniel Epstein, Trump attorney, stated to FOX Business' Lydia Hu that President Trump's actions here go beyond defending himself; he is fighting for all Americans who uphold the rule of law and believe in holding the government accountable when it wrongs them.
Epstein stated that the DOJ and FBI's actions during the raid were not in accordance with the established protocols, which mandate obtaining the consent of the investigative target, informing their attorneys, and utilizing the local U.S. Attorney's office.
Trump's lawyer contends that the actions of Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray were not based on "social, economic, and political policy" but rather on a "clear violation of constitutional principles, inconsistent application of standards, and a clear intent to engage in political persecution rather than advancing good law enforcement practices."
"Epstein stated that the FBI's actions during the raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate were inconsistent with standard search protocols and constituted a severe intrusion that is highly offensive to a reasonable person."
Epstein is also planning to sue for punitive damages.
The respondents must pay punitive damages of $100 million for the harms inflicted on President Trump, according to Epstein.
The second video promoting her memoir, "Melania," has been recently released by the former first lady.
The book, which is described as "the powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has defined personal excellence, overcome adversity, and carved her own path," is currently available for pre-order ahead of its Oct. 1 release date.
Melania, the former First Lady, invites readers into her world and offers an intimate portrait of her extraordinary life. She includes stories and images that have never been shared with the public.
On Tuesday, she uploaded her first video, sparking debate about the July 13 assassination attempt on the ex-president.
"The experience of my husband's attempted murder was horrific and distressing," Trump stated in a video message on X. "The silence surrounding it now feels oppressive."
"I can't help but wonder why law enforcement officials didn't arrest the shooter before the speech," she continued. "There must be more to the story and we need to uncover the truth."
In the aftermath of the assassination attempt in July, Mrs. Trump urged the nation to "unite" and encouraged "courage and common sense" to "bring us back together as one."
The gunman was described as a "monster who saw my husband as an inhuman political machine" who tried to "silence Donald's enthusiasm, creativity, love of music, and motivation."
As I witnessed the violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I came to the realization that both our lives were on the brink of devastating change.
"The former first lady previously told Planet Chronicle Digital that writing her memoir has been an incredible journey with emotional highs and lows. Each story has shaped her into the person she is today."
Although daunting at times, the process has been incredibly rewarding, reminding me of my strength and the beauty of sharing my truth.
Planet Chronicle Digital's Brooke Singman and Kendall Tietz contributed to this report.
