The father of a survivor of the Italian yacht disaster has revealed a grim text message about the missing victims, including two Americans.
A New York City attorney and his wife, among two missing Americans, have not been found.
On Monday, a superyacht sank off the coast of Italy, and six individuals, including two Americans, remain unaccounted for.
On Monday, an 184-foot British-flagged ship carrying English entrepreneurs and tourists capsized and sank off Sicily due to bad weather. One body was found, six people remain missing, and 15 people were rescued.
According to The Telegraph, Ayla Ronald, a senior associate at Clifford Chase, was among the rescued individuals. This global law firm recently secured a victory for billionaire tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, who was acquitted of fraud accusations in San Francisco in June.
Lin Ronald, Ronald's father, revealed that he sent a text message to his daughter following the superyacht's sinking.
"Ronald Lin informed The Telegraph that he has not received any updates about missing or saved personnel, and the only information he has received is that there are deaths and he and his partner are alive. He also stated that his daughter, a lawyer, is part of the legal team invited to sail as a result of the recent US court case success."
Four British nationals and two Americans are still missing. The Americans are Christopher Morvillo, a New York City attorney who worked on Lynch's fraud case, and his wife, Neda Morvillo, a jewelry designer.
Morvillo, who owns properties in New York City and South Kent, posted on LinkedIn about Lynch's acquittal on June 6, stating that his family would live "happily ever after."
"My wife, Neda Morvillo, and daughters, Sabrino Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo, deserve a huge thank you for their patience and brilliance, as does my legal team for their help in my legal success," Lynch wrote.
The ship, anchored near Porticello, sank around 5 a.m. Monday with a total of 22 people on board, according to the Italian coast guard.
A coast guard official in Palermo informed Reuters that the wind was extremely strong, despite the expectation of bad weather, it was not anticipated to be of this intensity.
