The extent of wildfire devastation, as shown by maps, includes destroyed homes.
Almost 40,000 acres have been scorched by the Eaton and Pacific Palisades wildfires.
On Monday, updated maps of the devastation caused by wildfires in Los Angeles were made public by the authorities.
The maps depict the devastation caused by the Eaton and Pacific Palisades fires, which are among the largest and least controlled of the wildfires. The maps illustrate the extent of the damage on a per-structure basis, with red icons representing structures that have been at least 50% destroyed, while orange, yellow, and green icons indicate varying levels of damage, and black icons indicate no damage at all.
The Eaton fire has affected 885 structures, with 674 being more than half destroyed and 157 remaining unscathed. Meanwhile, the Pacific Palisades fire has impacted 664 structures, with 485 being more than half destroyed and 127 remaining undamaged.
The current known status of structures on the map is indicated by the icons, and city authorities stated that field damage inspections may be ongoing and subject to change as information is gathered and verified.
Over 12,000 homes and businesses have been destroyed by wildfires, and evaluations of the damage are still being conducted in affected regions.
The Palisades and Eaton Fires were ranked among the top five most devastating fires in California's history last week, according to Cal Fire.
Despite ongoing recovery efforts, at least 24 people have been killed in the blazes.
Last week, the Eaton and Palisades fires began on Tuesday and have burned nearly 40,000 acres combined. The Eaton fire, located in Pasadena, has resulted in 16 deaths, while the Palisades fire has claimed eight additional lives. Despite their large size, both fires remain largely uncontained as of Monday morning.
The fire authorities have specified that not all "structures" mentioned in the map are houses or businesses. They clarify that things like sheds and certain vehicles are also included in the "structures" count.
