The disappearance of a Florida man for two years could provide investigators with valuable insights.
In January 2023, it was reported that John Henry Mallouk, 78, had gone missing.
The disappearance of a Florida man deepened as his home was destroyed by a recent fire.
In August 2022, John Henry Mallouk, 78, was last seen or heard from, prompting a concerned relative to report him missing in January 2023, according to police. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating the case.
On Friday night, a fire occurred at Mallouk's house in Okeechobee, Florida, and the cause of the blaze is still being investigated.
Despite the efforts of the firefighters at the scene, they were unable to rescue the home or the two cars in the garage, including the red 1955 Ford Thunderbird.
Detectives are searching for any connections to the disappearance of Mallouk, as new questions have arisen about his fate following the fire.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office stated that during the initial search of Mallouk's home, there were no indications of a struggle or any suspicious activity.
The premises remained unoccupied, with doors left ajar, food still in the fridge, and a cell phone lying on the counter.
Police revisited the site of Friday's fire to search for additional clues that could aid in the investigation of Mallouk's disappearance and to explore any possible correlation between the fire and his case, according to police.
Anyone with information about the fire or Mallouk's whereabouts should contact the Martin County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek informed WPBF that our detectives have invested a considerable amount of time in this.
"He stated that they were only seeking resolution, regardless of the path the answer took. He also mentioned that his family was worried about him and his whereabouts."
