The DA in Colorado has stated that there are ongoing investigations into suspected gang violence involving migrants, with real people being harmed.
A man's recent death in a "massive shootout" in Arapahoe County, Colorado, has prompted the district attorney to assert that migrant gang activity is not a figment of imagination, according to a report.
Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis' statement that migrant gang violence at Aurora apartment complexes is "misinformation" has angered members of law enforcement.
On Friday, District Attorney John Kellner of Arapahoe County, Colorado, discussed the ongoing police response to the gangs of migrant criminals causing chaos in apartments, as seen on camera with Planet Chronicle's "America's Newsroom."
"Kellner informed Planet Chronicle that they are aggressively prosecuting any cases that come across their desk, with a multi-agency task force investigating crimes. Whenever a gang tries to infiltrate their community or gain a foothold, they will prosecute them vigorously."
The police and law enforcement are concentrating on eradicating gangs before the situation worsens, with several cases of home invasion, burglary, and theft currently under investigation, as stated by Kellner.
A video that has gone viral on the internet depicts several armed individuals in an apartment in Aurora, Colorado, which some believe is now under the control of members of Tren de Aragua, a notorious Venezuelan gang.
Some people have criticized me, saying that things like 'This is imaginary,' but I assure you that the people in this apartment complex and the people of Aura are real.
"Cities nationwide, despite their distance from our border, are grappling with the consequences of an ineffective border policy."
The district attorney highlighted past efforts aimed at preventing the establishment of MS-13 in the city.
"Kellner stated that over a dozen members of the gang were indicted and prosecuted for multiple murders, shootings, violent crimes, and some of them are now spending the rest of their lives in prison in Colorado, regretting their past decisions."
Aurora's gangs are not seen as a significant issue by Polis, with a spokesperson labeling such views "false information."
Gov. Polis hopes that the city council members responsible for the city's safety stop criticizing their own city.
Aurora experienced a decline in violent crime between 2022 and 2023, and it is expected that the data will reveal further decreases for 2024. However, a recent misinformation campaign poses a threat to actual criminal investigations and may negatively impact the business environment in Aurora, according to Wieman.
"Kellner disagrees with the governor's comments about the situation, stating that there is an active investigation into a deadly shootout outside an apartment complex and that this is not misinformation."
Since December 2022, over 40,000 migrants have arrived in the Denver area, according to reports from the New York Post.
Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman stated in a previous interview with Planet Chronicle Digital that while the situation is real, it is crucial to put it into context to prevent the reputation of the entire city, with over 400,000 residents, from being negatively impacted by the actions of a few isolated apartment buildings owned by an out-of-state slum lord.
