Texas assistant principal recovers from injuries sustained during student-led classroom disturbance.
Last Thursday, Candra Rogers, the assistant principal of Corsicana ISD's Collins Intermediate School, sustained injuries.
A Texas school assistant principal was discharged from the hospital on Friday after being injured in a "classroom disturbance."
On Thursday, Aug. 15, Candra Rogers, the assistant principal at The Collins Intermediate School in Corsicana, TX, was airlifted to a local hospital due to a classroom disruption.
Fewer than ten students were present in the classroom where the incident occurred, according to school officials.
Officials announced that the student was detained and that the Student Code of Conduct will be applied, with charges pending.
The student's identity will be kept confidential due to privacy laws.
"Superintendent Stephanie Howell stated that the school district's prayers are with Mrs. Rogers and her family, as well as the family of the student, those in the classroom, and the entire Collins campus. She emphasized that this situation has been extremely upsetting and difficult, but the safety of both students and staff remains a top priority for Corsicana ISD."
While first responders tended to Rogers' care, the school was placed in a "hold" status following the incident.
No other students or staff were ever in danger, school officials said.
No details about the incident have been disclosed.
The executive director for the school district, Raymond LInex, stated that no new information was available regarding the case at present.
"As for Mrs. Rogers, she is home, improving, and in good spirits. She has only asked for continued prayers, including for the student's family. The case is still an open investigation and we have no additional information at this time," Linex stated to Planet Chronicle Digital.
The school district is organizing several fundraising events to assist with Rogers' family's medical expenses.
The incident remains an ongoing investigation.
