Teen's bizarre behavior after killing boyfriend revealed in new video
In 2023, Mackenzie Shirilla, 19, was found guilty of murdering her boyfriend and a friend following a high-speed car crash into a wall at 100 mph.
New footage from a police bodycam shows the strange behavior of an Ohio teenager who was arrested for driving her car into a wall at 100 mph and killing her boyfriend and his passenger in July 2022.
In July 2022, Mackenzie Shirilla, now 19, was found guilty of four counts of murder and other charges related to the deaths of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and his friend, Davion Flanagan, by a Cuyahoga County Commons Pleas judge who labeled her a "literal hell on wheels."
In July 2022, at the age of 17, Shirilla drove her Toyota Camry into a brick wall of a business in Strongsville, OH, to end her toxic relationship with Russo, and Flanagan was unintentionally present during the incident.
A tearful Shirilla is seen exiting a police SUV in a video released by the Strongsville Police Department.
"Shirilla, can you step out for me?" the officer asked. "I'm the one who's been investigating the crash. You're under arrest for aggravated murder, times two."
He stated, "You won't be asked any questions, and you won't be disturbed."
Shirilla is requesting the officer to handle her bracelet with care.
Shirilla tearfully requests that you handle the bracelet carefully while removing it, to prevent it from breaking.
"The officer replied, "You got it," while adjusting the cuffs. "I won't tighten these," he added, "to avoid causing any harm to you.""
Shirilla was placed in a different patrol car by the officer, and she appeared to attempt to rest with her eyes closed during the journey to the station.
In 2023, Shirilla was given a sentence of 15 years to life in prison for her "shocking lack of remorse." However, in an act of mercy, the judge decided to serve the two terms concurrently instead of consecutively.
She will be eligible for parole in 15 years rather than 30.
At the scene, Russo and Flanagan were declared dead, while Shirilla, who was in a mangled car, was unconscious and required extraction.
Shirilla and the two victims had been smoking marijuana before the collision.
