Suzanne Simpson's husband is accused of murder.
Official charges of murder have been filed against Brad Simpson in connection with the disappearance of Texas mom Suzanne Simpson, who has been missing for more than a month.
The husband of a missing Texas mom has been charged with murder in his wife's case, according to a Bexar County official.
A 51-year-old mother of four and luxury real estate agent has been missing for over a month, and her husband, who has been behind bars due to several offenses, was charged with murder on Thursday.
The total bond for Brad Simpson, who is charged with murder and has previous charges for prohibited weapons, evidence tampering, unlawful restraint, and bodily injury to a family member, is $5 million.
Despite not discovering Suzanne Simpson's body, investigators have sufficient evidence to charge Brad Simpson, 53, who was released from jail for questioning by Texas rangers on Thursday, according to a source.
Brad Simpson's brother, Barton Simpson, stated in a statement to the outlet that it is heartbreaking, but it brings our family some peace to know that authorities have gathered sufficient evidence to feel confident in moving forward with charges.
"By acknowledging that Suzanne is no longer with us, we can begin the challenging process of grieving and rebuilding our lives, particularly for the sake of our children and extended family. We are grateful to the law enforcement officers for their professionalism in handling this situation."
An extensive search for Suzanne was conducted by authorities, including sweeps of Olmos Park, nearby wooded areas, and a landfill in southeast Bexar County.
News 4 San Antonio reported that Barbara Clark, Suzanne Simpson's mother, previously stated that she does not believe her daughter is alive.
On Oct. 6, Suzanne Simpson vanished in Olmos Park, San Antonio, following an alleged dispute with her 22-year husband.
According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital, a neighbor reported seeing Brad and Suzanne fighting on the night of Oct. 6 and later heard screams coming from a nearby wooded area. The neighbor observed that Suzanne was trying to escape Brad's grasp as he tried to pull her downwards.
According to the affidavit, the couple's youngest child informed school staff that her parents had been fighting, and her father had hit her mother in the face and possibly pushed her into a wall, and he had taken away her cellphone.
Chandler Simpson, 20, wrote on Instagram that her mother was abused by her father, who ultimately took her life in a fit of rage and control, according to a report by the San Antonio Express-News.
Brad Simpson's longtime friend and business partner, James "Val" Cotter, is accused of concealing Brad's gun following a series of threatening messages sent by Brad just days after his wife disappeared, according to reports.
On Oct. 21, Cotter was taken into custody and accused of tampering with evidence and possessing a forbidden weapon, both third-degree offenses. Officials have stated that his case is linked to the probe into Suzanne Simpson's vanishing.
Before being charged with murder, Brad Simpson's lawyer, Steven Gilmore, reportedly described the accusations against his client as "absurd," stating that the case against Simpson was a "theatrical ploy to keep him in custody."
Gilmore did not immediately respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
The arrest affidavit is sealed for 30 days, according to the County Magistrate Clerk, as reported by News 4 San Antonio.
Brad Simpson's arraignment hearing is scheduled for Wednesday Nov. 13.
