Students at Pepperdine University seek refuge in the library and campus center as a wildfire in Malibu prompts evacuations.

The Franklin Fire in Los Angeles County, Calif., has affected Pepperdine University, with a shelter-in-place order remaining in effect "until at least daylight."
Since 1 a.m. local time, Pepperdine's updates have been appearing on the university's Facebook and X pages.
"Although the worst of the fire has surpassed Pepperdine, there are smaller spot fires on campus that are not endangering life or structures, and fire resources remain on campus to manage these spot fires as they arise."
To ensure the safety of our community, we will maintain the shelter-in-place protocol until at least daylight as power remains out for much of Malibu. The EOC will continue to update the community.
The Malibu campus has suspended its operations for Tuesday, resulting in the cancellation of classes and final exams as students prepare for winter break.
The EOC activated and issued a shelter-in-place directive for community members to the Tyler Campus Center and Payson Library.
Residents in the area around Malibu Canyon Road and Station Boundary were forced to evacuate due to a third-alarm brush fire, while others are under evacuation warning.
According to FOX Weather, no injuries or deaths have been reported due to the fire.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department is battling a brush fire with ground and air units, according to a Facebook post.
The fire has burned over 1,822 acres and remains uncontained, as per Cal Fire. It began at 10:50 p.m. and the cause is still being investigated.
Officials have closed Pacific Coast Highway between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Corral Canyon Road due to the fire, in addition to evacuations, as reported by FOX 11 Los Angeles.
