SoCal wildfire burns 200 acres, forces evacuations
A spokesperson for the Getty Villa has stated that the museum is currently secure.
A brush fire occurred in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday afternoon, leading to evacuations and road closures.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reports that nearly 200 acres with structures are "under immediate threat" at 3:30 p.m.
The Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades, located off Pacific Coast Highway, is one of those on high alert.
The Getty Villa is now shut to non-emergency personnel, as stated by Getty spokesperson Alexandria Sivak to Planet Chronicle Digital.
""The villa site is currently safe, and we are in ongoing contact with LAFD and closely monitoring the situation. It is already closed to the public on Tuesdays, so there were no members of the public on site," Sivak said."
Evacuation orders are in effect on Merrimac Road west to Topanga Canyon Boulevard, and south to Pacific Coast Highway.
A Westwood Recreation Center evacuation center has been established at 1350 South Sepulveda Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Nearly 20 acres were burned by a fire that started at about 1:30 p.m. near Piedra Morada and Monte Hermoso, according to the department.
By 3 p.m., the fire had affected approximately 200 acres in Pacific Palisades Highlands, destroying several structures.
A "life-threatening and dangerous windstorm" is heading towards Los Angeles, with red flag warnings remaining in place until Thursday evening.
