Sealy Mattress company sued by Georgia man's loved ones after his death in locked trailer at facility: lawsuit
A 27-year-old man was discovered deceased within a trailer at the Sealy Mattress company's location in Conyers, Georgia.
The family of a Georgia man who was discovered deceased in a trailer on the property of a major American mattress manufacturer is filing a lawsuit against the company.
In October, Joshua Armour, 27, vanished, prompting his family to desperately look for him. They eventually found his phone's location at the Sealy Mattress Company's plant in Conyers, Georgia, as stated in the lawsuit.
The family informed a supervisor at the facility that Armour's phone indicated his presence on the property, but employees were instructed to secure all trailers due to concerns about an unidentified individual at the location, the lawsuit claimed. Additionally, the family was not permitted to search the area and was requested to depart.
A week after his disappearance, Armour's body was discovered inside a locked trailer at the Sealy Mattress facility. It is claimed that he had been experiencing a mental health crisis when he entered the property.
Jasmine Jennings, Armour's fiancée, claims in the lawsuit that he died a "horrific and inexplicable" death "due to the willful failures and gross negligence of Sealy, Tempur-Pedic, and related entities."
The lawsuit stated that Sealy failed to find or safeguard Joshua.
Tragically, Sealy prioritized its own property over the life of Joshua and the pleas of his family.
On Friday, Tempur Sealy International conveyed their sympathies and announced an investigation into the incident.
The company stated that they have been conducting a comprehensive investigation to understand all the details of the incident and have fully cooperated with local authorities.
Mark Johnson, one of the family's lawyers, stated that according to reports by The Associated Press, the company has a surveillance video of an unidentified person on the property, but the supervisor that night refused to let the family see it, making it impossible to confirm if it was Armour.
"Johnson stated, "We have written to Sealy requesting all videos, but have yet to receive a response.""
Armour’s family has requested a jury trial.
