A man who played Santa Claus at a theme park in North Carolina has been arrested for allegedly abusing children between March 2023 and March 2024, according to reports.
Bevier Hasbrouck Sleight III, a 78-year-old man, is facing 13 charges of child abuse, including two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact, contributing to the delinquency of minors, and first-degree child abuse, as well as three counts of offensive touching, according to the Cherokee Indian Police Department.
According to the police, Sleight worked at Santa's Land Fun Park & Zoo on Wolfetown Road, but the charges were linked to incidents that allegedly took place at his home, as reported by WLOS, a local ABC TV news station in Asheville, North Carolina.
The alleged incidents took place between March 2023 and March 2024, and involved approximately a dozen children aged 5 to 7 years old.
No comment was obtained from Santa's Land Fun Park & Zoo.
