In Chicago, a 25-year-old victim was robbed by suspects who emerged from a black Range Rover while walking with a friend, according to a report.
According to a local report, a Texas delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday by men wearing ski masks.
At approximately 2 a.m., in the 100 block of West Randolph in downtown Chicago, a 25-year-old victim and a friend were walking when a black Range Rover pulled up beside them. Two armed men exited the vehicle, according to CWB Chicago reports.
According to the report, the suspects stole the victim's wallet and room key, but it is unclear how much cash or cards, if any, were inside the man's wallet.
A man and a woman were robbed by perpetrators who crossed the street, according to CWB Chicago, quoting a CPD spokesperson.
The police have identified two Black males as suspects in a series of robberies in the city. The suspects are described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, and they were last seen wearing ski masks. An alert has been issued about their criminal activity, according to CWB Chicago.
The DNC and Chicago Police Department were contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital regarding the robbery, but no immediate response was received.
On the third day of the DNC, a robbery occurred, coinciding with the Chicago Police Department recording nine shootings, one of which was fatal, and a stabbing.
On Monday, there were eight shootings, four of which resulted in fatalities, while on Tuesday, there were five shootings that resulted in 12 victims, including one fatality.
Over the weekend before the Chicago convention, there were 26 shooting incidents that resulted in 30 victims, including five fatalities.
For a third consecutive night, hundreds of anti-Israel protests persisted near the convention site, despite the police's efforts to control the violence.
New York City has a larger population than Chicago, but Chicago has a higher homicide rate, according to police statistics.
