Report: Ole Miss fraternity faces suspension over hazing allegations after video emerges
A white substance was reportedly consumed by prospective fraternity members during a Mississippi hazing incident.
The fraternity at the University of Mississippi in Oxford has been suspended due to hazing allegations.
Last week, Ole Miss suspended the Mississippi Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta, as confirmed by FOX 13.
"The university acknowledges the video and considers allegations of hazing very seriously, as stated by UM in a FOX 13 statement. The fraternity in question has been put on interim suspension, which entails halting all new member activities."
According to students who reviewed the video, the hazing incident caught on camera shows prospective members drinking a white substance, possibly glue or milk, while lying on their backs.
Last week, the suspension was due to unclear hazing allegations.
"The Phi Delta Theta national headquarters has been collaborating with the chapter, alumni, and the university to investigate allegations. Members implicated have had their memberships suspended, and additional disciplinary measures may be taken."
The fraternity's national organization stated that it does not condone any actions that go against the fraternity's values and policies and has strict penalties for members and chapters that violate fraternity standards and the law.
In 2021, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity was suspended for four years due to hazing allegations.
