Police: Suspect who tried to rob pizzeria and brandished a gun is beaten up by employees.
The manager of Marco's Pizza confronted the suspect with the option of 'prison or death' while brandishing a knife.
Last week, a man attempted to rob a pizzeria in Texas, prompting employees to take matters into their own hands and administer justice.
An employee at a Marco's Pizza location in Austin was allegedly approached by Richard Curtis, 19, who was later charged with aggravated robbery, according to FOX 7 Austin.
According to an affidavit, Curtis gave a worker a note that read "Don't say s—t, empty the drawer" and showed them a gun in his waistband, as reported by FOX 7.
The employee swiftly apprehended the suspect and applied a chokehold until the police arrived.
According to FOX 7, the manager of Marco's Pizza lifted Curtis' gun from his waistband while the employee and Curtis were fighting.
The manager allegedly tried shooting Curtis, but the gun didn't fire.
After discovering that the gun was malfunctioning, the manager struck Curtis with the gun's handle.
According to FOX 7, at one point, the manager grabbed a knife from the kitchen and posed the question of choosing between prison or death to Curtis. Curtis then ceased fighting and awaited the arrival of law enforcement to make the arrest.
An employee sustained a head injury during the incident and was later treated, as reported by FOX 7.
The incident is being investigated by authorities. No further information is available.
