Over the past week, six individuals have been accused of being involved in fatal human smuggling incidents, according to the Coast Guard.
Over 60 individuals were involved in the smuggling incident that occurred between Dec. 23 and Dec. 29.
Six individuals are being investigated by US Coast Guard officials in California for their involvement in fatal human smuggling incidents along the Golden State's southwestern border, which occurred last week.
According to the USCG, the incidents that occurred between Dec. 23 and Dec. 29 involved more than 60 individuals.
The statement on the branch's X account mentioned that several lives were lost due to the incidents, yet it did not offer additional information.
Unfortunately, this pursuit has resulted in numerous fatalities. Embarking on the sea in unsafe boats with unqualified captains in freezing, unforgiving conditions is extremely dangerous.
On December 11th, the USCG released a statement indicating that 14 individuals were being investigated for their involvement in smuggling 73 people during a seven-day timeframe.
Hypothermia can occur in less than 30 minutes if water temperatures are below 60 degrees.
"Smuggling attempts put lives at extreme risk," the USCG said.
