Noah Presgrove's family shares their thoughts one year after his mysterious death.
On Labor Day 2023, a 19-year-old named Presgrove was discovered deceased on a highway.
The cause of Noah Presgrove's death, an Oklahoma teen who aspired to join the military, remains unknown one year after his body was discovered on a highway on Labor Day. His loved ones are still seeking answers.
"Madison Rawlings, Presgrove's sister, shared with Planet Chronicle Digital that she has always hoped that he went fast and wasn't in pain. She also hopes that his death wasn't caused by someone she loved. However, she acknowledges that they don't really know for sure about his last moments, including whether he was in pain and if his death was caused by someone he deeply loved."
In 2023, on Labor Day, 19-year-old Presgrove was discovered dead on a rural stretch of US-81 in Jefferson County. Despite attending a party with friends that night, no one has come forward to reveal how he met his demise along the highway.
Rawlings stated, "We are already exhausted and frustrated with everything, but I understand that a year is both a long and short duration. However, our sympathy for those who have experienced it is nonexistent. They've had ample time."
Rawlings, who spoke to Planet Chronicle Digital shortly after his death was reported, previously stated that she only hoped and prayed that whoever knew what happened to her brother would come forward, allowing them to forgive and move on.
With no answers about her brother's death after a year, she has altered her stance.
Rawlings stated, "I am unsure if they are scared or feel they are getting away with it, but regardless, I wish they would speak up. Our family has worked hard to find them, and if we must catch them, they should understand the consequences. Therefore, I hope they act quickly."
Recently, Presgrove graduated from high school three months early and planned to join the military with his cousin.
Rawlings stated, "I pray daily for the Lord to reveal something to our law enforcement so that we can put this behind us and work towards a new goal. I believe the person responsible feels invincible and untouchable, like they're above the law. I'm ready for that feeling of safety to disappear."
The Presgrove family received the autopsy results from the medical examiner in April, which they then shared with Planet Chronicle Digital. The report stated that the cause of death remains unknown.
The death of Noah Alexander Nichols was caused by multiple blunt force injuries, as determined by an autopsy examination and toxicology results. The body was discovered naked and wearing only shoes on the side of a highway on September 4, 2023. No vehicle parts or debris were found on the scene. The circumstances surrounding how the body was found on the road with multiple blunt force injuries are currently unknown, leading to an undetermined manner of death.
On September 3, 2023, the decedent was at a house party and drinking. Later that night, he rode an ATV ranger vehicle with several men, which had a rollover incident. Despite being injured, the decedent returned to the party and got into an argument with his girlfriend. After leaving the party, the decedent was not found until the morning of September 4, 2023, on the side of the highway.
Two 911 calls were obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital from drivers who initially thought they saw a deer on the road, but later discovered it to be human remains.
"A caller informed the police dispatcher that they saw someone lying on the shoulder of the highway, appearing to have been hit while walking. The caller initially thought it was a deer, but upon closer inspection, realized it was a human body."
The caller then told dispatch that the scene looked "awful odd."
Undersheriff Jimmy Williams of Jefferson County issued a statement to Planet Chronicle Digital and expressed his sympathy to the family of Presgrove.
The Sheriff and his office express their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Noah. This case has weighed heavily on their hearts throughout the year. The Sheriff is confident that OHP and OSBI will bring resolution and answers to Noah's case. His office has been working closely with OHP as new information has emerged throughout the year.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation initially characterized Presgrove's death as "suspicious," but his official manner of death is currently "undetermined."
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, now in charge of the investigation, refused to provide any additional information to Planet Chronicle Digital, stating that the investigation is still ongoing.
"Rawlings said, "We all hope that someone knows something and that it will come together soon. We are grateful for any progress we see, but we want it to happen as quickly as possible.""
