Department store undergoing structural inspection by engineers
Over a dozen individuals were harmed on Friday afternoon when a dump truck collided with a tractor-trailer before slamming into a New Jersey Target.
According to Fox 5 New York, a dump truck lost control while descending a steep hill and collided with a tractor-trailer.
The North Bergen Target at 7101 Tonnelle Avenue continued to be destroyed as vehicles flew into it.
According to FOX 5, North Hudson Regional Fire Chief David Donnarumma confirmed that six people were injured, including one woman in critical condition.
According to the report, the woman was injured and had to be rescued from the bathroom.
A tractor-trailer wrapped around a telephone poll and a dump truck was found inside a giant hole in the side of a department store, as shown in a video from SkyFOX.
According to authorities, the street is closed as crews remove wreckage and structural engineers assess the building.
The crash was described as "devastating" by North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco in a statement he released.
"A dump truck descending 69th Street hill lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck a tractor-trailer, causing both vehicles to crash into a Target store. Sacco wrote. Additional updates will be provided as new information arises. Please offer your support and prayers to the injured individuals."
The crash occurred while the Target store was operational. The number of individuals in the affected zone is unknown.
Target did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
