Nine-hour ordeal: Boy freed from boulder trap.
When New Hampshire authorities arrived, the boy was 'aware and awake'.
Overnight, New Hampshire authorities intensely focused on rescuing an 11-year-old boy trapped between two boulders.
On the grounds of Camp Wediko, a camp for children with emotional difficulties, a child was trapped between two boulders on property owned by Wediko Children's Services, a boarding school in Windsor, New Hampshire.
Several agencies were summoned to the Manchester Fire Department scene prior to midnight on Sunday.
The child was discovered "alive and aware" and positioned about 4 to 5 feet below boulders, with limited space to maneuver on either side, according to the Patch.
The rescue team in Manchester collaborated with the on-site fire and EMS companies to clear a tunnel near the boulders, enabling a member to reach the victim's legs and assist with extrication from the top of the boulders.
The boy was reportedly rescued from being stuck between boulders after being trapped for nine hours. Boston 25 News reported that authorities used shovels, jackhammers, power saws, and lubricant to "vertically hoist" the child free.
The extent of the child's injuries is unclear, but the Patch reported that they were minor.
The Hillsboro Fire Department expressed gratitude to the responding agencies in a Facebook post.
We appreciate the assistance of all mutual aid companies who helped with the technical rescue at Wediko Children's Services last night until early morning hours.
The Manchester Fire Department and the Hillsboro Fire Department were contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for more details.
