New York City arrests Venezuelan gang members implicated in apartment takeover.
On Wednesday, two members of the Tren de Aragua, Denyeer Aramillo Meneses, 23, and Edison Pena Angulo, 25, were apprehended in the Bronx.
In New York City, two members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua, who took part in an armed apartment invasion in Aurora, Colorado, were apprehended.
On Wednesday at 3:30 a.m., the NYPD gang task force and Homeland Security arrested Denyeer Aramillo Meneses, 23, and Edison Pena Angulo, 25, who were featured in a viral video, for credit card scam and drug trafficking.
Sources reported that 15 suspected members of a notorious gang were arrested following a six-month investigation into violent gang crimes that resulted in a drug ring.
On October 1, the police in Aurora issued warrants for the pair, as reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.
According to sources, the drug ring sold a range of narcotics, including synthetic marijuana, heroin, and the synthetic drug amalgamation Tussi, from the Bronx to Lower Manhattan.
They allegedly dabbled in credit card fraud and violent crime.
During the raid, three assault rifles, two pistols, and ammo cans filled with cartridges and other semi-automatic weapons were discovered, according to sources.
In Aurora, two gang members were charged with menacing with a firearm and first-degree burglary, but the details of their federal indictments and offenses remain sealed and their charges are unclear.
On August 18, video footage captured Meneses, Angulo, and four other armed men attempting to enter apartments at Aurora's The Edge at Lowry Complex. According to police, they knocked on two doors, forced entry, and threatened the occupants. Unfortunately, Oswaldo Jose Dabion Araujo, 25, was fatally shot during the incident.
Officials and residents in Aurora claim that the seizure of control by Tren de Aragua has led to a surge of violent crime in the area.
According to the New York Post, Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirino, also known as "Galleta," is accused of coordinating the gang's violent attack on a man at a different apartment complex and the ensuing shootout at another location.
"An apartment investor at one of the complexes stated that the group of people were initially causing trouble around the property, creating a negative atmosphere. However, they began to take control of vacant units a few months ago."
In February, over 62 robberies in New York City were linked to a gang, and two suspected members of the gang were arrested for assaulting two NYPD officers.
Earlier in May, 10 migrants linked to the gang were arrested in Texas, and the brother of the suspect in the murder of Georgia student Laken Riley is also associated with the gang.
""Their criminal activities pose a grave danger to our communities," Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens stated at that time."
