One person was killed and nine others were injured in a mass shooting near a funeral home in Baltimore County, Maryland, on Tuesday night, according to county officials.
On Tuesday at approximately 7:15 p.m., Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough stated that officers were dispatched to Loch Raven Boulevard due to reports of gunfire. The location was close to Johnson Funeral Home in the Towson community, as per Baltimore County Fire Chief Joe Dixon.
An officer discovered a car on its side engulfed in flames at the scene. McCullough stated that it seems the vehicle was involved in an accident that caused it to crash and ignite, but additional information is lacking.
Nine of the ten victims sustained injuries from gunfire, according to the police chief.
Nine survivors were taken to trauma centers with unknown conditions, and information about their injuries was not immediately disclosed.
The department is investigating the targeted and isolated shooting incident, as stated by McCullough.
"It seems that the people involved in this scenario were acquainted with each other, according to McCullough. This occurrence was deliberate and aimed at specific individuals."
No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting by Tuesday night.

Firefighters in Baltimore County were able to control the car fire and offer assistance to the victims on-site before transporting them.
The fire chief expressed pride in our responders and emphasized the cooperation between the police and fire departments.
Johnny Olszewski, the Representative-elect for Maryland's 2nd Congressional District, was at the news conference and expressed shock over the deadly shooting.
"This incident is particularly shocking for those in Baltimore County, as such incidents are rare here and thus it greatly shocks the conscious," he stated.
He stated that the county is "totally dedicated" to providing both police and fire departments with complete support and resources during the ongoing investigation.
