On Monday afternoon, a suspect opened fire in the parking lot of the Consulate General of Honduras near Atlanta, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of another, according to police.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., the Doraville Police Department in Georgia received a report of a shooting at the consulate and dispatched officers to the scene.
One person was discovered dead from a suspected gunshot wound when officers arrived on the scene.
Another injured person was discovered by the officers and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
A male suspect has been arrested and is currently being interrogated by police investigators at headquarters.
The consulate in Atlanta is located in a business complex on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Doraville, but it's unclear if the victims were at the parking lot to visit the consulate or another nearby business.
The police are still investigating and have not disclosed the identities of those involved.
