Missing Oregon nurse's husband accused of murder makes first court appearance.

On Monday, an Oregon man who is accused of murdering a nurse who disappeared days after her wedding returned to court for the first time.
Melissa Jubane, 32, was reported missing and her body was found days later, leading to the arrest of her neighbor, Jonathan Bryce Schubert, 27, by the Beaverton Police Department.
Schubert has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and second-degree abuse of a corpse. He is currently being held without bail at the Washington County jail due to the murder charge.
During Monday's hearing, Schubert was present on video but did not enter a plea, as reported by KATU News.
It was determined through an extensive investigation that Schubert was involved in her disappearance, officials said.
Schubert worked as a nurse at Providence Portland Medical Center from September 2022 to October 2023, but was not employed at Providence St. Vincent, where Melissa worked, according to a statement from Providence on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, Beaverton police confirmed that the remains of Jubane were discovered after a three-day search, two weeks following her wedding to Bryan Llantero, a native of Kalihi, Hawaii.
The Beaverton police expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the community members who helped with the search for Melissa. They also conveyed their deepest condolences to Melissa's family, friends, and coworkers.
Although we recognize the community's interest and concern, we must maintain the investigation's confidentiality to protect its integrity.
Jubane's family declined to comment on the investigation but issued a statement to KATU News.

The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) issued a statement and pledged support to those affected by Jubane's death.
"The Oregon Nurses Association is deeply saddened by the passing of Melissa Jubane, a remarkable nurse at St. Vincents Hospital and a member of our organization. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Melissa during this challenging time. We stand in solidarity with our community as we grieve this devastating loss and offer our unwavering support to all those affected."
The organization held a vigil in Jubane's honor on Monday evening.
On Tuesday morning, Schubert will have a status check in court, and a preliminary probable cause hearing is scheduled for him on Sept. 16, according to KPTV's report.
