Mandatory evacuations are being enforced in San Diego due to the wildfires and hazardous wind conditions.
Homes and businesses in San Diego County are at risk from Lilac Fire and Pala Fire.
Officials say that two wildfires are burning in San Diego County, and due to the "dangerous fire conditions" caused by powerful Santa Ana wind gusts, mandatory evacuations are expanding in Southern California early Tuesday.
Both the Lilac Fire and Pala Fire, which began this morning in Bonsall and Pala Mesa, respectively, are endangering homes and businesses, according to Cal Fire.
San Diego County District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond emphasized the urgency of evacuating immediately and following first responders' instructions, as mandatory evacuation orders have been issued.
"Please evacuate immediately if you are in a zone affected by Santa Ana winds, as they are causing dangerous fire conditions," he stated.
According to Cal Fire, as of Tuesday morning, the Lilac Fire has burned approximately 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread.
Officials have halted the Pala Fire's forward spread after it burned approximately 30 acres.
Evacuation orders have been issued for communities in proximity to the Lilac Fire.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Office advised that if conditions change, be ready to evacuate and if you feel in danger, immediately leave.
The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
San Diego County is experiencing critical (fire weather), while the high deserts are under elevated (fire weather), according to FOX Weather Meteorologist Craig Herrera.
Nearly 90 mph wind gusts were recorded by the National Weather Service in San Diego County late Monday night.
A High Wind Warning and a Red Flag Warning have been issued for the region until later this afternoon and tomorrow night, respectively.
