Luigi Mangione, the suspected killer of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, has had his mugshot released.
Second-degree murder charges and other offenses against Luigi Mangione, 26.
A mugshot of Luigi Mangione, the man accused of murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, has been obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital and shows him wearing an orange jumpsuit for the first time on Tuesday.
In Altoona, Pennsylvania, Mangione, 26, was arrested on Monday after a five-day nationwide manhunt following the shooting of 50-year-old Brian Thompson outside a New York City Hilton hotel before a shareholder conference.
On Tuesday, a New York arrest warrant was obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital, stating that the cause of Mr. Thompson's death was a gunshot wound to the torso. It is alleged that Mangione fired "several times" at Thompson, causing him to collapse on the ground.
In April 2021, Thompson became the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. He is survived by his wife Paulette "Pauley" Thompson, 51, and their two children.
The warrant disclosed additional information about Mangione's encounter with police prior to his arrest and the items found in his possession.
A police detective wrote in a warrant that they were informed that the defendant presented a forged New Jersey Driver’s License with the name of Mark Rosario as his identification, which was the same identification presented at the hostel. Additionally, Patrolman Christy Wasser, Badge #250 found a semi-automatic pistol with a 3D printed loaded receiver, metal slide, and silencer in the defendant’s belongings, along with written admissions about the crime.
The warrant states that Mangione made "written confessions regarding the crime" when he was arrested on Monday in Pennsylvania. However, no information about these "confessions" has been made public yet.
The warrant accuses Mangione of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree in relation to the murder.
Though they cannot comment on the news reports or allegations regarding Mangione, Mangione's family is "devastated."
"Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved. We only know what we have read in the media."
Planet Chronicle Digital's Greg Norman contributed to this report.
