Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass remains unconcerned about the alleged tension between Trump and California.
Both Kathryn Barger, a Los Angeles County supervisor, and Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, have extended an invitation to Trump to visit Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass rejected any speculation about animosity between the Trump administration and California that could hinder efforts to combat the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles County.
Trump has heavily criticized the leaders in Los Angeles and California for their response to the wildfires, stating that the city and state were woefully unprepared.
On Sunday, Bass stated that she is not concerned about any rumored tension between Trump and local officials and revealed that she has been in touch with his team.
On Sunday, Trump posted on Truth Social that the polls are incompetent and do not know how to put out the L.A. wildfires. He had previously accused Gavin Newsom of prioritizing the protection of an endangered fish species over the safety of the state's residents from wildfires.
The president-elect has frequently criticized Democrats in California for restricting access to water from the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers in the northern part of the state.
Both Kathryn Barger, a Los Angeles County supervisor, and Governor Gavin Newsom have invited Trump to visit the region and witness the destruction caused by the fires.
"During Sunday's press update on the firefighting efforts, Bass stated that he joined the invitation to the incoming president to visit Los Angeles. He also joined the supervisor and the governor in speaking directly with the incoming administration yesterday. Bass described the call as "fine.""
As I mentioned earlier, there are several former colleagues of mine who are being confirmed, and I believe we will maintain a positive relationship.
Bass and Barger said they believe Trump will visit the area.
""I am confident that this president will come, as I represent Altadena, the most diverse community in the fifth district, where socioeconomics from all walks of life are suffering," said Barger."
The mayor also objected to inquiries regarding the alleged absence of communication between the city and the incoming Trump administration.
"The city of Los Angeles has been in communication with the incoming Trump administration, and I will provide more details in the coming days."
