Lawsuit alleges that California state senator coerced his chief of staff into engaging in sexual acts that resulted in injury.
Alvarado-Gil, a California state senator, is accused of compelling her chief of staff to engage in oral sex.
Last week, a lawsuit was filed accusing a California state senator of compelling her chief of staff to enter into a "sex-based quid pro quo relationship," resulting in injuries to him, it is alleged.
Chad Condit, the former chief of staff of Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil, has filed a civil lawsuit in Sacramento Superior Court accusing her of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and violations of state labor laws.
Alvarado-Gil was accused by Condit, who is married, of being an "erratic" and "controlling" boss who engaged in a "sexually dominating abuse of authority and power."
The suit alleges that the relationship was based on unwelcome advances and sexual behaviors, and involved punishment and power flexing.
In their final meeting, Alvarado-Gil allegedly made Condit perform oral sex in a car seat, resulting in three herniated discs in his back and a collapsed hip due to the tight space, as stated in the lawsuit.
Alvarado-Gil allegedly retaliated against Condit by issuing him a disciplinary letter accusing him of inappropriate behavior after Condit refused to give him oral sex, citing his injury as an excuse.
In December, Condit was fired after making it clear that the senator's advances were unwelcome and undergoing surgery on his hip, as stated in the lawsuit.
Ognian Gavrilov, attorney for Alvarado-Gil, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the accusations against the senator are untrue.
"Gavrilov stated that a disgruntled former employee has fabricated an outlandish story without evidence to obtain a payday. He added that they expect the Senator to be fully cleared of any wrongdoing of these bogus, financially motivated claims."
The California State Senate is also named in the suit.
"Erika Contreras, Secretary of the Senate, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the Senate has not been served in the matter at hand, but they are in discussions with counsel to determine the next steps. The Senate takes all complaints seriously, but is unable to comment on matters involving pending litigation."
The California Senate Republican Caucus' press secretary, Jacqui Nguyen, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the senator is fully cooperating.
"Senator Alvarado-Gil is fully cooperating with the lawsuit regarding a former employee, and we need to allow the judicial process to proceed while deferring all inquiries to the Senate Rules Committee."
