Incoming President Trump Praised by Mother of Jogger Allegedly Killed by Migrant
An illegal immigrant is accused of killing Patty Morin's daughter Rachel.
The mother of a Maryland woman killed in a brutal running trail attack, who claims the attacker was an illegal immigrant with a history of crimes on multiple continents and states, will attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration Monday after the two developed an unlikely friendship following the tragedy.
Patty Morin, who lost her daughter in a gruesome and unexpected way, has had a surreal experience over the past year and a half. The wait and fear of 'if' a suspect would ever be caught, the international attention Rachel's case has garnered, culminating in Congressional hearings and a friendship with President Trump.
In August 2023, Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old mother of five, disappeared after failing to return from her daily jog. She was later discovered with severe injuries, inside a culvert near the trail.
Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, a 23-year-old border "gotaway" suspect, was identified and captured by an interstate law enforcement effort in connection with a series of violent crimes targeting women.
In his native El Salvador, he was wanted for another woman's murder, and in California, he is accused of breaking into a house and raping a woman and her nine-year-old daughter.
Morin stated, "I never imagined life would take such a turn. Now, with a new Trump administration on the horizon, there is renewed hope for safety and security for our families and nation. Rachel's story has helped change our country, bringing us back to foundational truths and common sense. I eagerly anticipate what the next four years will bring."
Over the past year, she has frequently visited the Capitol, appearing before Congress and advocating for increased action against migrant criminal activity.
The Laken Riley Act, which was passed earlier this month, was the result of some of those efforts. This act was named after another young woman, Georgia nursing student Riley, who was attacked by an illegal immigrant while jogging, like Rachel Morin.
"The Laken Riley Act amends Federal law to enhance the apprehension of criminal illegal immigrants and offers relief to states and citizens affected by the Biden-Harris open border crisis," Morin stated. "I am thrilled to see Congress taking action to safeguard American families and communities."
"Shameful!" she exclaimed, as 159 Democrats prioritized the protection of criminal illegal immigrants over the American citizens they were elected to serve, resulting in a slap in the face for those who lost loved ones.
