In the first round, dozens of students received Ethan Chapin scholarships.
In memory of the slain University of Idaho student, the Ethan's Smile foundation awarded 33 scholarships.
On Nov. 13, 2022, Ethan Chapin's dreams were buried, but now, seeds of a brighter future are in the hands of many young people striving to achieve their own.
Last week, Ethan's Smile, the charitable foundation established in memory of Chapin, awarded 33 scholarships following a "bittersweet" ceremony, as his mother shares.
Stacy Chapin informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the foundation has surpassed its $50,000 goal for endowing scholarships.
""We couldn't come up with a better way to pay tribute to Ethan," she stated."
Unlike many academic scholarships, the foundation is providing scholarships to any student attending any accredited institution, including beauty and vocational schools.
"We wanted a scholarship for any child with any dream," she said. "I can't wait for 20 years from now when these kids return and share what they accomplished with their lives."
Morgan Wallen, a country star, thanked donors from across the country, including him, for putting the foundation on a strong foundation. She expressed her hope that the fund would continue to grow until the interest generated could cover scholarships every year.
The group of four students, including Chapin and his girlfriend Xana Kernodle, were brutally murdered in a home invasion attack near the University of Idaho campus in Moscow, Idaho.
At the time of the stabbings, Bryan Kohberger, the suspected killer, was a Ph.D. student in criminology at Washington State University.
If convicted, Kohberger could face the death penalty. He is currently being held without bail, awaiting trial.
Chapin, a triplet majoring in recreation, sports and tourism management, has siblings Maizie and Hunter who are still attending the university.
Ethan's Smile, a foundation providing scholarships to students, was established by their parents following an attack. For more details about the charity and ways to donate, visit this link.
