In preparation for Election Day, Vet the Vote releases a PSA featuring 'Monday Night Football' to pay tribute to poll workers and veterans.
On Election Day, over 150,000 veterans and military family members will serve as poll workers across the country.
The nonprofit campaign for veterans has teamed up with the National Football League to create a PSA specifically for veterans, military families, and poll workers, which will be exclusively shared with Planet Chronicle Digital.
A coalition of over 40 veterans and civic organizations, Vet the Vote, hires veterans and military families to work at polling stations across the country.
On Monday, during the "Monday Night Football Kickoff" on ESPN, which starts at 7:30 p.m., a PSA will be aired. Narrated by three-time Super Bowl champion executive Scott Pioli, the PSA will be shown.
"The NFL is proud to support Vet the Vote, a coalition that has enlisted over 162,000 veterans and military family members to serve their country once more as poll workers. We express our gratitude to these exceptional volunteers for their service – twice."
Over 163,000 veterans and military family members have been enlisted by Vet the Vote to work as poll workers during the Nov. 5 national election at polling stations across the country.
The group announced that its recruitment numbers for the 2022 midterm elections were more than double the original target during the launch of its campaign.
November 4th is Election Hero Day, a nonpartisan national celebration that honors the significant contributions of election officials, their staff, and poll workers in ensuring a secure and safe voting experience for all Americans, as stated on civicholidays.com.
The PSA will "acknowledge the contributions of the thousands of veterans and military family members who have volunteered as poll workers during this election season. It will emphasize the vital role that veterans and military families play in maintaining fair, transparent, and secure election processes for all voters," Vet the Vote stated in a news release.
A majority of jurisdictions reported during the 2016 election that it was "very difficult" or "somewhat difficult" to recruit staff for polling stations, according to the Election Assistance Commission (EAC).
Veterans and military family members are well-suited to work at polling stations, according to Ben Keiser, co-founder of Vet the Vote.
Keiser stated that veterans and military family members are motivated to continue their service, which is why many of them work as election administrators in county government and volunteer at the polls.
""Vet the Vote has been supported by the NFL and NFL Votes, who are grateful to those who run our elections," Keiser stated."
Vet the Vote is a coalition comprised of NASCAR, the NBA, AMVETS, Microsoft, Blue Star Families, and We the Veterans and Military Families.
