In Rhode Island, a chase that ended with a crash was reportedly carried out by robbery suspects.
A video recording captured the incident of thieves stealing a package from a FedEx driver in Harvard, Massachusetts, on Friday, as he was making a delivery.
At approximately 12:43 p.m., the Harvard Police Department received a report of an armed robbery and responded.
Upon their arrival, the officers conversed with the recipient, a FedEx driver who was delivering a parcel at a residence.
The driver stated to investigators that a white, late-model Acura TLX with very dark tinted windows and a partial Connecticut license plate bearing the letters "BN" pulled up beside him while he was making a delivery. Two masked individuals emerged from the car and approached the driver from behind. One of them then seized the package from the driver's grasp.
The video from nearby surveillance cameras shows the suspects taking the package by force, even though no firearm is visible in the footage, the suspects allegedly made verbal threats towards the driver, suggesting they were armed.
A neighbor's report of seeing the suspects' vehicle parked near the delivery location for several hours led police to suspect that the suspects were targeting that specific delivery, according to a preliminary investigation.
In Providence, Rhode Island, WPRI reported that four suspects were arrested following a multi-state police chase that ended near the city, resulting in a robbery.
A vehicle crash near Elmwood Avenue on Interstate 95 ended the chase, as captured by traffic cameras.
According to Providence Police Col. Oscar Perez, one person was injured in the crash and stayed with the vehicle while the other three inside the vehicle escaped the scene. Perez stated that the three individuals who fled were apprehended shortly after the incident.
The person who remained in the car was taken to an area hospital.
Cranston Police Col. Michael Winquist stated that the suspects who were arrested were driving a white Acura with Connecticut plates and that it crashed on the Providence-Cranston line, according to the station's report.
During the pursuit, police utilized search dogs to locate any firearms that may have been abandoned.
