ICE and Border Patrol morale has increased after the Trump election victory: "They now have the power to apprehend undesirables."
Trump appoints Tom Homan as 'border czar'.
Border authorities' morale seems to have increased following President-elect Trump's election, who prioritized border security in his campaign, after four years of lax immigration policies that resulted in a surge of migrants entering the US.
Trump has appointed Tom Homan as "border czar" to strengthen the southern border and order mass deportations of illegal immigrants.
On "Fox & Friends," Homan, a highly respected member of the Border Patrol and ICE, stated that he intends to address the border crisis resulting from the Biden administration's policies.
"For years, I've been complaining about the actions of this administration on the border, and now the president has asked me to come back and fix it. I can't be a hypocrite, so of course, I'll accept the challenge."
Nearly 3 million illegal border crossings occurred under President Biden in fiscal 2024, and over 10.8 million illegal encounters have taken place since fiscal 2021, according to the Department of Homeland Security's website.
Homan stated that he supports Trump's mass deportation plan, emphasizing that it would prioritize "public safety threats and national security threats." In a recent interview on CBS's "60 Minutes," Homan was asked if mass deportations would result in family separations. He responded, "Families can be deported together."
ICE officials and U.S. Border Patrol agents told Planet Chronicle that the change is like day and night.
"The mood has completely shifted. ICE officers in Massachusetts are thrilled to see the sun after a long storm. People are excited to have support and are amazed at how numb they felt until now. The return of Homan has brought everyone great joy."
Another ICE officer in New York stated that morale was "extremely high, particularly due to the Homan news."
An Arizona Border Patrol agent expressed his excitement to go to work, stating that morale was higher than the first time he won.
"National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez stated in an interview that the morale among agents is extremely high, with hundreds of calls, texts, and emails expressing their happiness."
Agents who initially stated they would retire if President Trump did not win are now holding back on their retirement plans to serve under this administration again, as they are familiar with the first administration and believe this one will be even better, according to the speaker.
"A border agent in California stated, "We've all been optimistic, but the surrenderers are still arriving in a steady stream. Nothing will alter until Tom Homan assumes control.""
A Texas border agent informed Planet Chronicle that "retirees are not retiring and everyone is content."
"The senior ICE official stated that people are aware they will perform the tasks they agreed to and desire to do, and they are confident in their ability to apprehend criminals, protect public safety, and combat national security threats, including gang members."
Officials expressed excitement about no longer having to use politically correct language, such as "noncitizen," to describe illegal immigrants.
