Over 10,000 Los Angeles residents have been forced to evacuate due to the wildfires, resulting in the destruction of more than 10,000 homes and businesses. At least 10 people have been killed in the blaze, which has burned over 27,000 acres as of Friday morning.
The Red Cross has dispatched hundreds of American workers to aid southern California residents in fleeing the area and is preparing to send "hundreds" more to support the victims. They are readying truckloads of supplies, including cots, blankets, and water, to assist thousands of people in emergency shelters if necessary.
In a statement, the Red Cross emphasized their commitment to ensuring that individuals have a secure shelter and are not alone during this difficult time.
"The fires are being fueled by dry fuels, hurricane-force winds, and low humidity, making it difficult to contain them. The threat isn't over yet, as critical fire weather is expected to continue through Friday and next week. It is crucial that people remain vigilant, prepare to evacuate, and follow instructions from local authorities as the situation continues to evolve."
