Hours before Trump's arrival at the US Capitol, a man was arrested for attempting to carry a machete and three knives into the building.

On Wednesday, a man was stopped and arrested by the U.S. Capitol Police for attempting to bring a machete into the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C., just hours before President-elect Trump was scheduled to meet with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill.
A machete was discovered in a man's bag during a security screening at the CVC's north doors at approximately 2 p.m., according to the Capital Police's social media post.
The man was arrested before securing the machete as the X-ray machine was stopped when the bag went through.
Additionally, the police stated that there were three knives and a machete in the bag.
An investigation into the matter on the north side of the CVC led to the temporary halt of security screening.
An unidentified man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of possessing a deadly weapon.
