Georgia AG: Dems' failure to implement GOP crime policies endangered Black communities' safety
Chris Carr, Georgia's Attorney General, proposes a straightforward approach to tackle urban crime: strictly uphold the law.
To address the issue of violence and crime in blue cities, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr suggests enforcing the law, imprisoning offenders, and ensuring the safety of American citizens and their businesses from criminal activity.
"Elections have consequences," he said to Planet Chronicle Digital, criticizing Vice President Harris as the "patron saint of leftist prosecutors" and condemning progressive crime policies that have failed the communities they aim to help.
He said she was for defunding the police, sanctuary cities, and cashless bail.
As a former California attorney general, Harris has publicly supported bail funds that help criminal defendants get out of jail when they are held on bail. Her office did not respond to a request for comment.
"Carr stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that all the DAs they've encountered across the country, including those in Los Angeles, San Francisco, St. Louis, Athens, and Atlanta, Georgia, have looked up to her as a model for the new criminal justice reform, which involves not enforcing the law."
The past few years' policies have resulted in a roadmap for increased crime.
In Athens, a college town famous for the University of Georgia and its football team, a leftist policy led to a nightmare earlier this year when an illegal immigrant was accused of abducting and murdering a nursing student while jogging in a park on campus. Enraged residents criticized local officials for supporting "sanctuary" policies during a news conference following her death.
"The communities most affected by violent crime are often those that Democrats and leftists claim to protect, but in reality, it is conservatives and Republicans who are keeping people safe. This is a crucial point to consider."
Despite having a population one-third the size of New York City, Chicago leads it in homicides, according to police statistics.
"You have two options: either ignore the law and see crime increase, or enforce the laws and prevent crime from rising."
Police organizations have long sought to reverse the bail reforms that allow repeat offenders to be released quickly and re-offend, which has led to a lack of consequences and leftist prosecutors' reluctance to charge suspects to the fullest extent of the law. This has negatively impacted police morale and made it difficult for cities to hire and retain officers.
This week, Chicago Police Chief Gene Roy disclosed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the city's police force has numerous open positions, totaling thousands of vacancies.
The criticism of Democrat elites being detached from Chicago crime reality is intensified as they hold the convention near the spot where a 7-year-old boy, Jai'Mani Rivera, was shot dead earlier this year. Despite the suspect being eligible for imprisonment, he was released on home supervision, which he allegedly disregarded.
Despite being understaffed, Chicago police managed to handle anti-Israel protests outside the country's Chicago consulate on Tuesday night, skillfully rounding up rowdy protesters until, after issuing a warning, they made approximately 70 arrests when protesters refused to leave.
Chicago, historically known as one of the country's great cities, has recently faced challenges such as gun violence, robberies, carjackings, and population loss due to its reputation as an incubator of leftist policies.
"The Democrats' decision to hold their convention in Chicago, a city that elects officials who disregard the rule of law and refuse to enforce it, is ironic. Despite their opposition to walls and increased security measures at the southern border, they have taken measures to protect their own convention center."
Carr is a supporter of the Protecting Americans Action Fund, which aims to counter the financial support of left-wing donors, such as billionaire George Soros, for progressive prosecutor campaigns, resulting in DA offices run by George Gascon in Los Angeles, Alvin Bragg in Manhattan, and Kim Foxx in Chicago.
